Still Down on the Farm

Okay, I know that Easter is past, and one might say that the time has come and gone for a treat container containing chocolate eggs.  But I say, when Down on the Farm is the collection on the crafty table, it is the perfect excuse to bring on all fun things farm themed – including delicious chocolate eggs (like I need an excuse)!

And let’s be honest, it doesn’t get much more “down home” than little milk carton treat containers, so that is exactly where I went with this little project for the absolutely adorable and heart-warming Down on the Farm collection!

I decided to use some amazing primary coloured textured cardstock for the base of each container, and then used some of the great smaller prints in the 12×12 patterned paper collection for the accents on each side.

And then as the focal point for each container, I used an fantastic Doodle-pop to, well…POP!

I love the dimension that these Doodle-pops have and they are the perfect size for the little 2×2″ space I had on the front.

To add a little sentiment to each, I grabbed the funny Chit Chat die cuts and found one to match each of the Doodle-pops that I was planning to use.  Oh, and did I mention that I had choice galore – there are so many great sentiments in the Chit Chat collections that I could make enough of these treat containers to last all year!

Each container was then topped off with some of my favourite stand-bys – mini doilies, Sprinkles and a mini paperclip, all of which happen to be the perfect size for these little containers.  Oh, and if chocolate eggs are not your thing (besides the fact that we might not be able to be friends any more) you can fill these little containers with just about anything from candies to mini cookies to individual cupcakes.  It’s a farm-friendly project sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face!

Down on the Farm!

You know, sometimes I have to admit that I have favourites.  I know it’s not right, but if I am being honest, I can’t help myself.  And the truth is that this new Down on the Farm collection is already on the top of my list.  I mean really, does it get cuter than this?

I was given the task of putting together a card set to showcase this collection – I know, tough job, right?  So immediately set to work putting all the cute Odds and Ends die cuts out on the table together with the clever chit Chat sentiments.

Why start here?  Well, the truth is that when I am making cards, the Odds and Ends packs are always my favourite go-to!  There are always so many cute shapes and characters to work with, and more than enough to create cute scene after cute scene!

And now that I can pair them up with the awesome Chit Chat sentiments, card making has never been so fun!

And this collection in particular is about as cute as it gets!  From big die cuts like barns, farm houses, animals, and background features (there is a mud puddle!!!!)…

…to the cutest little cuts like these flies…

…and the best little worm ever!  Add these to any card and your recipient will be smiling at all the details for days!

And since we are talking favourites, I have to admit that I am a sucker for a great interactive card!  And when I saw this denim jean pocket paper and the bandanna paper in the 12×12 collection, I knew exactly what needed to happen!

That’s right, the bandanna pulls out for a little hidden message.  And while I chose to add some more pieces from the Chit Chat pack, a personal sentiment here would also work really well!

Oh, and as for my favourite part on this little card – it’s the little heart tag on the side of the pocket.  Doodlebug knows how to get the details right!

So, just between you and me, while I promise to love and cherish all my collections, Down on the Farm is going to be getting some serious extra love on my crafty table.  Because, yup – it’s a new favourite!  I bet it will be one of yours too!

Chit Chat fun

The only thing I love more than giving away a homemade card is giving away a homemade card that includes a pun!  Doodlebug’s new Chit Chat die cuts make pulling together a cute card with a great sentiment as easy as it gets!  I had the chance to pull together a few cards recently and thought it would be fun to share the fun with you!

For this little set, I wanted a variety of cards that would serve a variety of occasions.  While the So Punny collection is filled with love, it is also filled with with great Chit Chats that will work perfectly for…

…that great dad or grandpa in your life…

…a great thank-you or thinking of you card for the seamstress or quilter in your life…

…or even a fun general purpose card for the tea fan in your life.  And really, this is a just a sample of the huge variety in this awesome and versatile collection.

It is such a fun collection and if you are looking for more details on additional products on the cards, pop on over to the Doodlebug blog to see them up close and personal!
