Hopping with Graphic 45

mayartsbloghop-3-585x1024Good morning crafty friends! Today is day three of The Ribbon Resource and Graphic 45 blog hop!  Both design teams have all sorts of pretty products to showcase this week, and today, I get to share a project I created with the Children’s Hour collection and some beautiful silk ribbons (one of my new crafting obsessions).

I have a little confession to make before I start – besides my immediate family, I have a really hard time remembering birthdays.  I can tell you what month people are born in, but the details always seem to allude me.  Given that there were so many calendar themed papers in this collection from G45, I thought I would make a little home decor piece that would also serve as a month reminder of when, specifically, there are birthdays that I want to help celebrate.  Thus was born: my monthly birthday reminder!

This “calendar” was a lot of fun to put together.  Since I didn’t want to use it for particular days in a particular year, I decided to use the calendar grid pages as a background for each month.  I then simply fussy cut and layered pieces on top that were themed for each month, varying the layouts on each page.

In terms of ribbon – each page was embellished with either 1/4″ silk ribbon or 1.25″ ribbon;  1/4″ Silk in brown (SK-4-93) and ivory (SK-4-09) and 1.25″ Silk in ivory (SK-5-09).

I tied each in different ways, sometimes using double bows, single bows and even pulling it through different chipboard tags.

Each page ended up with a journaling space that I will use to write in names and birthdays.

I just used a pencil on this page to give you an idea of what I will do.  I figured that most of my family would disown me if I posted their actual pictures here on the blog! 😉

Finally, I also added a really double mixed bow onto a large paper clip that can be moved to mark each month that I am on.  I love the extra dimension that it adds to each page!

So there you have it!  With great product from two great companies, I may be able to keep on track with the birthday front!  Maybe, just maybe! 😉

Now for the important part!  Both companies have giveaways for the hop so make sure you get a chance to pop over and enter!  The Ribbon Lady actually has 3-$25.00 gift cards up her sleeve.  Also make sure you check out the great posts from the other designers up today! Here are the ladies on our team…

Thanks for stopping by!
