Go to your happy place!

Sometimes inspiration comes from unusual places – like a fall themed layout inspired by blue and brown twine! 😉  Well, this month, the design team at Trendy Twine has been working with Chocolate Sprinkles twine, and although the colours certainly remind me of little boys and newborn projects, I thought I would go in a bit of a different direction:

One of my favourite design elements right now on my layouts is adding dimension through layering, but I don’t always love the bulkiness I get as a result.  So, I thought I would see if I could use the twine to create the look of dimension.

I started with a simple technique of lining the edge of some cut paper with the twine.  It gives a fun, framed effect to the title of this page (a title that I actually created by mixing a couple of Paper Smooches stamps from the Sentiment Sampler     set).

From there, I ran some twine vertically across the top of some patterned paper to create a striped effect.  I think this is actually my favourite part of the layout!

And finally, I used some of the Chocolate Sprinkles twine to add some stitching – I really like the way this turned out as well.  Just be sure to space your holes at least 1/4″ apart as the twine is so nice and thick!

All of the paper is from the new DCWV stack called Autumn Melody, and the stamps (including the background hexagons) are from Paper Smooches.

And just because I decided to use the fun Paper Smooches sketch this week as an inspiration, I thought I would include a little hidden element to add a bit of spunk to the page!

Go to your happy place, indeed!
