…Christmas! Now wait – I know that it might seem early, but I was at one of our local big box stores this last weekend, and I was a little surprised to see rows and rows of Christmas lights! And given that the Ribbonistas from May Arts wanted to inspire you and have you ready well in time for the holidays, it seemed like the perfect time for our Handmade Christmas card hop!
May Arts currently has some amazing classic ribbon and some fun new beauties featured right on the front page of the website. One of my favourites happens to be a new arrival – the 1″ Adhesive Flag Banner ribbon. I decided to use some of the red, and see how I could use it in a “unconventional” way.
Simply by cutting each piece of the banner and then rounding the top, I was able to get a really pretty petal shape perfect for poinsettias. I used a hot glue gun to place each petal and then topped off the middle with some Perfect Pearls to give the illusion of the stamen in the flower. I then added a bit of the Leaves ribbon for a punch of colour, and then added my favourite Eyelet ribbon along one of the layered edges for even more texture. I love that this card lays almost completely flat (perfect for mailing), but has so much dimension!
Okay, if you haven’t had a chance to see what the other ladies have in store, make sure you pop on by all the blogs for some amazing inspiration. Half of us are up today, and another set of ladies will be up tomorrow with even more inspiration! Make sure you take the time to leave a comment, because May Arts is giving away 2 prizes of 2 spools each (one each day) from the Christmas Section. Trust me – it’s worth the effort to comment!
