A sure sign of spring up here in Canada is when the little insects start to make their appearances. On my way home from school yesterday, and small group of grade 1 students were huddled around a little spider hanging off the building, totally enthralled as they watched it bounce up and down. And when I walked in the door at home, one of my daughters happily announced that she had seen a ladybug – “a live one mommy!” Yup, spring is alive and well!
Today, I wanted to share a project with you to celebrate these little spring creatures! Now before you run away screaming, I promise there are no spiders included!
This altered frame was covered with paper from the beautiful Butterfly Gardens stack from DCWV. A little decoupage paste and a craft knife is all you need! All of the flowers and butterflies were fussy cut from the patterned paper, and some were topped off with a coat of Glossy Accents for a bit of shine and durability! The butterflies are only adhered in the middle “body” section, so I could fold the petals up to add some dimension and life to the piece. I added a white, silk bow (May Arts has the most beautiful silk ribbon), and that, my friends, was it!
See – no spiders here – just don’t go outside! I make no promises out there!
Thanks for stopping by!
