After looking through the paper stash for a collection that might work, I decided to play with a collection from the new paper company called Carta Bella. This particular collection, called Beautiful Moments, was perfect for this little picture of my youngest daughter and her blankie (although it wasn’t her blankie yet at the time the picture was taken – she fell in love with it a few months later). I also managed to match it up with some of the beautiful reversible ribbon I received from May Arts! I simply took my craft knife and cut a slits all the way up, and then laced the ribbon through the paper. Easy!!!
The second layout is from the same paper collection, but this time, inspired by the Dr. Seuss story – “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” For this layout, I had some fun pictures to play with of my oldest daughter and husband zooming around the house. We have a little island in our kitchen, and it seems to be our favourite household racetrack! Does every house with kids have one of these special places?
It was fun to see if I could use this elegant collection for something a bit crazy and fun by mixing a few of the busier paper patterns together. I created a few flag embellishments with some wooden toothpicks, and simply fussy cut some shapes from one of the papers to layer beside the photos – again, so EASY! I added a bit of Glossy Accents to the shapes to add a bit more dimension as well. Have I mentioned that I love Glossy Accents?
I think my favourite part of the layout is the age banner on the right hand side. This was as easy as fussy cutting some numbers out of the paper and then layering them on banner shapes. I seem to have gotten into a rut lately – simply writing the age the girls were somewhere on the layout – so I love that it has actually become a focal point in this one! Now I wonder if I can come up with other idea too, or if you will see age banners all over the next 100 layouts!
Well, I think that’s it from SCS today! Oh, I did forget to mention that I did enter these layouts in the project challenge that Carta Bella had running. Guess what? “Zoooom” was one of the winners! Thanks Carta Bella – I can’t wait to get Paris Girl and see what fun I can have with that collection too!
