Last week, 74 pounds of beautiful paper arrived on my doorstep courtesy of DCVW! It was like winning the paper lottery! Now, if you are wondering how to deal with that much paper, the answer is simple – get crafty!
With fall fast approaching (although you would never know it with the hot weather we are having here in Calgary), this was a perfect time to scrap some of the fall themed photos I have from last year. The beautiful DCWV Autumn Melody Mattstack fit the bill perfectly, a new release you can find this month at JoAnns. I decided to team it up with the versatile Neutrals Cardstock Stack, for this 12X12 quilt inspired layout.
I just love it when pictures can tell a bit of a story, so I included a flap to reveal a surprise:
The background was created with a simple log cabin quilt pattern – a fun and easy way to create texture and colour to the background of your layout.
But my favourite part of the layout has to be all the flowers and leaves that were fussy cut from the Autumn Melody Mattstack. The patterns on the paper in Mattstacks are scaled down from the 12×12 stacks, so they were the perfect size for these embellishments. It did take a bit of patience to cut around all these pretty shapes, but I loved the fact that it gave me the ability to layer the flowers and leaves, and add a bit more dimension by adhering some of the shapes with foam squares.
So there you have it – my first project as part of the DCWV Design team! Thanks for stopping by today, and come back soon for some fun projects from the new Bewitched stack!

I love this LO, Karen! And I can’t even begin to imagine the patience it took to fussy cut all those little flowers! Great job!
Thanks for popping by Brit! I actually love fussy cutting – it’s a bit therapeutic for me!
